Oriolecroft began with a long table on a back porch, a pitcher of something cold and the feeling that the plain brown tray deserved better.

Where it started

Every family seems to have one person who always ends up hosting. She knows how many chairs fit around the table, which glasses survive the dishwasher and exactly when to bring the pie out. We made Oriolecroft for her, and for the friends who like to pitch in by carrying the drinks.

The tray is the one piece that travels the whole evening: coffee first thing, lemonade in the afternoon, cheese and crackers before dinner, dessert plates at the end. It seemed a shame for it to be the plainest thing on the table.

Painting our own

So we painted designs of our own, twenty-one of them, arranged like the courses of a good meal. Garden Party is lemons, peonies, hydrangeas and bees for warm-weather lunches. Harvest Table brings pears, figs, pumpkins and wheat for autumn suppers. Cocktail Hour is citrus wheels, olives, cherries and dark florals for the evening pour.

None of it is clip art or stock imagery. Each design exists only on our trays.
